Nuclear power plants have been regarded as indispensable for supply of electricity in Japan.
Electricity is indispensable to the comfortable life of the people on Earth. Every economic activity around the world is also supported by electricity.
What will happen to people's lives and the Japanese economy ...
After the incident at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station following the Great East Japan Earthquake, we have been envisioning a way to resolve the energy problem of Japan by utilizing geothermal energy in Onsen Prefecture Oita Representative, Beppu city, which boasts the largest amount of hot springs in Japan.
To that end, blessed with the opportunity to work with wonderful partners who share the same desire to work on geothermal power generation in this Beppu City, along with the cooperation of many proponents to our corporate philosophy, Goiyuin Geothermal power plant and Yuuyama geothermal power station are in now operation. It is truly a dream come true.
With the right settings, power generation using geothermal power is a base load power supply that can generate power consistently for 24 hours irrespective of volatile weather conditions.
Geothermal fluids used for power generation can subsequently be used to create hot spring. In places where the sole usage was for hot spring, now can be used more effectively both as a heat source for geothermal power generation and a recreational bathing.
Furthermore, the potential for a wide variety of cascade applications (multistage usage) is also being explored.
Utilizing hot spring, the local prized possession, our aim is to deliver warm electricity made by and for local region. It is this sentiment that is the driving force of my work until this day.
On the other hand, there has been voices expressing concerns over difficulties in understand geothermal power operation and business. In response to that, with support from the Oita Prefecture Energy Industry Society, we decided to renew the homepage of West Japan Geothermal Power Corporation.
Looking ahead, we pledge to further refine our utilization geothermal resource for local power production and consumption, while maintaining coexistence with hot springs, answering all of your expectation with our company.
